Will Russian travel operators be saved with the help of state during the coronovirus pandemic?
Dmitry Gorin, adviser to the head of Rostourism, vice president of the Association of Travel Operators of Russia and CEO Vipservice, in an interview with the Metro newspaper explained what subsidies and under what conditions are allocated by the state to support tour operators.
We are talking about compensation for losses associated with non-refundable fares for flights abroad, as well as return flights from countries where restrictions were introduced due to the epidemic. Since the domestic tourism industry was included in the official list of sectors that were most affected by the pandemic, 3.5 billion rubles were assigned from the reserve fund of the Government of Russia to Rostourism.
The tour operator will be able to receive a refund if he has already compensated the amount for the tourist for an unused tour.
“This subsidy is intended for those operators who returned 160,000 people from 43 countries to their homeland - that is, about organized tourists, because the state takes out the independent ones,” commented Gorin.
The list of documents and the application form for compensation will appear on the website of the Federal Tourism Agency in the near future. Keep for updates.
