Moscow has once again become the most attractive Russian region for Russian and foreign tourists, being at the top of 2019 national tourist rating. Second and third positions belong to Saint-Petersburg and Moscow region, followed by Krasnodar region and Crimea. The fifth annual research of the most attractive and perspective Russian regions for tourists was conducted by Rating Information communication center and the Otdykh v Rossii (“Vacation in Russia”) magazine. Year’s results in tourism commented by Dmitry Gorin:

“After the difficult 2018, this year has been relatively stable. It has shown branch resilience, there have been no bankruptcies as such. После сложного 2018 года текущий год был относительно стабилен. Он показал стрессоустойчивость отрасли, в выездном туризме не было как таковых банкротств. Not only that, but the operators have become much more active in internal and external tourism.

We are happy about the growth of organized “package” tourism within Russia. For example, this year the travel operators have helped 3.5 mln tourists visit Krasnodar region and 1.5 mln – the Crimea.

According to our data, incoming tourism has shown stable demand, its growth was almost 25%. The number of organized tourists from Korea, Italy, Spain and France increased by 1.3 mln. people. One more key event of the year has been e-visa introduction in Kaliningrad and Saint-Petersburg. We are now awaiting introduction of such visas in the whole country starting with 1st January, 2021.

In 2019, travel operators have been given opportunity to receive federal budget subsidies for incoming foreign tourists. In general, domestic tourism branch will become still more transparent due to overall introduction of e-visas, which is expected to start next year.

Transport availability can still be considered among the branch issues. In my opinion, here we need state support of charter and regular flights; their cost strongly impedes tourism development in our country.

Besides, we use our potential in the off-season very ineffectively, even though Russia, with its climate features, has all we need for developing this direction. Expanding the season “wings” at resorts such as Crimea and Krasnodar region, from September to May would allow us to increase the number of organized tourists multi-fold.

The important factor is promoting the country on foreign markets. We rely heavily on Tourism development strategy 2035The event schedule is now actively discussed with travel operators, it will define the future of tourism in our country”.

Where to travel with children on New Year's holidays to feel warm and profitable?” - Dmitry Gorin answered this question on the air of the Morning of Russia program on the Russia 1 channel. The expert recommended that family travelers note the countries of Southeast Asia and the United Arab Emirates. In his opinion, in the UAE you can find an affordable vacation - 40-50 thousand for two, with visa-free travel. Now the weather is comfortable there, and there is a bonus for children in various theme parks and water parks. Also the discovery of this year was the Chinese island of Hainan. A tour there will cost about 60-70 thousand rubles for two with a flight. Such prices to popular resorts are available due to charter programs, which have recently been carried out timely. (Подробнее The Federal Air Transport Agency issued 1840 licenses for charter flights which will be operated from December 15, 2019 to January 15, 2020. This is 7% more than for same period in 2018-2019, Dmitry Gorin told the Interfax-Tourism portal. At the same time, the overall increase percentage in licenses for both charter and regular air transportation will be 10%. “I am glad that our charters received full tolerances, without the previous reductions. Accordingly, we have continued positive dynamics. At the same time, license does not mean actual flights: there may be more, but maybe less,”he explained. (Read more: )

All employed Russians will have eight short working weeks in 2020. This will stimulate the demand for early booking, according to Rambler, citing tourism experts. Extended weekends provide the opportunity to book short tours. In the winter season, there are several holidays at once - Valentine's Day, February 23 and March 8. On such holidays, trips to European cities are popular - Prague, Budapest, Rome, Paris, Vienna. They also willingly travel inside the country - to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
