Federal Mass Media Review

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev approved the members of the working groups for the implementation of the 'regulatory guillotine' mechanism in each of the significant areas of public life and business. This means 'clearing' from those regulations of the Russian legal framework that are obsolete and impede progress. The working group in the tourism sector comprises 19 people, including: Dmitry Gorin as a member of the Supervisory Board of Turpomoshch and Vice President of ATOR (Association of Tour Operators of Russia), Executive Director of ATOR Maya Lomidze, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sergei Galkin, Business Ombudsman for Moscow Tourism Georgy Mokhov and others. The groups will work till the end of 2020, and should deliver a new oversight regulation.

It should be noted that in July 2019, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev approved the list of government authorities and types of control in respect of which the 'regulatory guillotine' mechanism will be implemented as a matter of priority. Most Russians intend to travel around the country for the November holidays. However, experts name Italy, Turkey and Spain among the most popular abroad destinations. The Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia Dmitry Gorin told on air of the NSN why the love of Russians for abroad vacations has grown again. "The appeal of Russian resorts is not declining. In absolute terms, the year-end results show that the figures have increased significantly. Another issue is that after many years of decline in outbound tourism, the number of abroad trips has increased. This is facilitated by the stability of exchange rates, a moderate increase in prices for travel services, airline tickets and package tours offered by the tour operator on outbound routes," said Dmitry Gorin. In 2020, Moscow for the first time will host the Grand Final of the travel Oscar—World Travel Awards. This year, the Gala Ceremony of the Awards will be held in Oman on 28 November, and Moscow is nominated in three categories: World's Leading Festival Event Destination, World's Leading Sports Tourism Destination and World's Leading City Destination Experts interviewed by the ATOR Bulletin note that Russia has every chance of winning an Oscar in all categories. "By facilitating the visa regime and developing tourism infrastructure, Russia has entered into a competition for tourist flows in the global market, and its prospects of success are great," Dmitry Gorin, Vice President of ATOR and adviser to the head of the Federal Agency for Tourism, told the publication.
