Vipservice Celebrated The Ethiopian New Year

On 12 September, the eve of the Ethiopian New Year, the media centre of Vipservice was hosting a meeting between subagents of the holding and representatives of Ethiopian Airlines. It was preceded by a contest of airline ticket sales among the users of Portbilet. However, on this day guests gathered not only to celebrate and congratulate the winners but also to learn more about the services offered by the airline. 

"As you might have already guessed, Ethiopia follows a different calendar — Julian. It is seven years and eight months behind ours. Today, they are celebrating the start of the year 2012 — Enkutatash*. I hope that this fact will make our meeting feel more like a holiday," this is how Valeria Yaschenko, Senior Manager of Marketing and Sales in Ethiopian Airlines, greeted the guests.

Then, she gave a presentation of the airline — winner of SKYTRAX 4 Star Airline, Best Airline of Africa, and Best Business Class in Africa. As of today, the route network of Ethiopian Airlines includes more than 100 destinations on 5 continents. The most popular of them are Kenya, Tanzania, the Seychelles, South Africa, and the Comoro Islands.  The latter is not as common among Russian tourists but after the photos taken by Valeria showing paradise-like landscapes, all agents got interested and will start recommending it to their clients. Another nice perk from Ethiopian Airlines is hotel accommodation for passengers during transfers longer than 8 hours and a free city tour for transfers longer than 6 hours. This is all not to mention unique Ethiopian cuisine served on board.

And of course, no New Year's celebration can make do without presents. Irina Doronina from the tour operator company Mirakl won the prize for the largest number of tickets sold from 1 to 9 September. Sales and Marketing Representative Alexander Kotenko personally handed the prize to her. Another 3 prizes were given away randomly among other attendants of the seminar.

*Enkutatash means Gift of Jewels day. According to the legend, the date of the new year was established by the Queen of Sheba. After her return from her visit to King Solomon in Jerusalem, her subjects welcomed her with gemstones.
